Consolidated Reports

AWS Consolidated Billing allows you to establish a single payer account for multiple AWS accounts.  In addition to having only one AWS invoice, Consolidated Billing allows you to take advantage of volume discounts, and Reserved Instance hourly pricing across accounts.

If you are utilizing Consolidated Billing within AWS, CloudCheckr can generate reports specific to this billing configuration to make tracking costs across accounts easier, and to help ensure you are taking advantage of the benefits of AWS Consolidated Billing.

CONSOLIDATED BILLING SUMMARY

Capture

The Consolidated Billing Summary Report shows you daily and month-to-date statistics for each of your consolidated AWS accounts. The totals for this report are taken directly from your AWS invoice. The Consolidated Billing Summary can be based on CloudWatch data or on your Detailed Billing Reports. CloudWatch data is used for all accounts.

The report will provide you with Net Bill, Cost, and Credit totals and averages across all of your accounts each day, as well as month-to-date.  You’ll also see a list of each of your consolidated accounts along with their daily and month-to-date totals.  This list of accounts includes the account-friendly name to make the report easy to digest.

The report can also be filtered and sorted by daily or month-to-date net bill or cost.  These filters can be saved to be quickly viewed at any time.

ADVANCED FILTERING (WITH TAGS)

Capture

CloudCheckr’s Advanced Filtering (with Tags) report allows you to query your AWS Detailed Billing Report based on dimensions such as date range, account, region, service, resource tag, resource ID, operation and usage type. This reports allows you to set different parameters, see the results, change the parameter, and review the results interactively.  You can also choose to display blended or unblended costs within the report.

When viewed in the CloudCheckr account for your AWS Payer account, you can display cost data for ALL accounts, or filter by specific accounts.  You can choose to view unblended or blended costs.  When you add accounts for your sub-accounts, they will get to see the unblended costs associated with their specific account.

This report provides a seemingly infinite number of ways to organize and dissect your AWS costs.   For a basic example: if you chose to filter the report by regions EU (Ireland) and US East (North Virginia) and select only EC2 and S3 for services, the report will show you only the total costs for EC2 and S3 within those two regions. If you group the report by Region, the graph will display the total costs in the regions.  If you group by AWS Service, the graph will display the total costs for each Service.  You can also filter further by resource tag or resource ID.

ADVANCED GROUPING (WITH TAGS)

Capture

CloudCheckr’s Advanced Grouping (with Tags) report uses the costs associated with your AWS tagged resources.  It allows you to group costs by multiple levels of Tag Keys. For instance, you can group costs by Tag Keys of CustomerName, then further group costs within that by Tag Keys of ProductName.

When viewed in the CloudCheckr account for your AWS Payer account, you can display cost data for ALL accounts, or filter by specific accounts.  You can choose to view unblended or blended costs.  When you add accounts for your sub-accounts, they will get to see the unblended costs associated with their specific account.

The controls for the report are identical to the Advanced Filtering (with Tags) report, so you can further query your AWS Detailed Billing Report based on dimensions such as date range, account, region, service, resource tag, resource ID, operation and usage type. This reports allows you to set different parameters, see the results, change the parameter, and review the results interactively.  You can also choose to display blended or unblended costs within the report.
