S3 Summary Report

The S3 Summary Report provides a high-level overview of the buckets and objects being stored within AWS Simple Storage Service (S3).

The report provides Overview Statistics, what are totals across all AWS regions:

  • Total Buckets – the total number of buckets created.
  • Total Folders – the total number of folders that exist within all buckets.
  • Total Objects – the total number of objects that exist within all buckets.
  • Total Objects using Server Side Encryption – the total number of objects that are stored using encryption for added security.
  • Total Objects using Reduced Redundancy Storage – the total number of objects stored using Reduced Redundancy, which is a cheaper alternative to standard storage but provides less durability.  Reduced Redundancy storage is meant to be used for  non-critical objects.
  • Total Publicly Accessible Objects – the total number of objects that can be accessed by anybody.
  • Total Space Used – the total storage space of all objects within all buckets.
  • Total Cost Per Month – the total cost of S3 storage across all regions.  This price does not include data transfer charges.

The S3 Summary Report also provides helpful charts:

Objects By Bucket: Shows the total number of objects that are being stored within each bucket.

  • Bucket – the name of the bucket.
  • Number of Objects – the total number of objects within the bucket.
  • Number of Objects with Public Access – the total number of objects within the bucket that can be accessed by the public.

Objects By Region: Shows the total number of buckets and objects within each geographical region.

  • Region – the region where the bucket and objects are physically located.
  • Buckets – the total number of buckets within that region.
  • Objects – the total number of objects within that region.
